Pattaya Addicts – All You Need To Know About The City That Never Sleeps!
You will find bars, gogo bars nightclubs and restaurants dotted all over the city but the following are the main “zones” especially for foreign tourists and expatriates. Many would argue it has now overtaken Soi 6 as the second most popular nightlife and entertainment zone. Indeed it is probably the city’s biggest single attraction – period! It will always be with us although it’s make-up is in a constant state of flux, especially in recent years. Despite the growth in all aspects of tourism in the city, a direct result of efforts by the powers that be, the nightlife remains its biggest single draw. This was largely driven by a couple of Walking Street owners seeing the potential and opening large new bars on the Soi. Pattaya is located on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard approximately 120km from the capital Bangkok. It’s free. A lot of fun! LK Metro is still very much the new kid on the block. As of 2021 it is home to 16 gogo bars with more planned it seems. The first bars and eateries opened around 2005 but it wasn’t until 2012, when there was a big jump in gogo bars opening, that it really took off. Although bars, clubs and gogo bars abound throughout the city Walking Street remains its biggest single draw. You can find more information on all the above on Pattaya’s largest and most active forum, Just use the button below and register an account. Since the completion of the motorways it is around one hours drive from Suvarnabhumi airport and two hours drive from central Bangkok (subject to traffic). It is the third most popular destination with foreign tourists after Bangkok and Phuket. The bright lights, gogo bars, nightclubs and restaurants attract visitors their thousands every night. Despite years of (false) rumors of its impending demise Walking Street remains the core of the city.
All The Right Noises was actually recorded and ready to go in 2019. But due to the world pandemic it was delayed, leaving all the members of Thunder sitting on their hands waiting. If you know the characters in Thunder this must have been unbearable for the band and in saying that almost worse for their millions of fans around the world waiting to get their hands and ears on these new songs. The song is an out and out rocker with Luke Morley dishing out a direct attack on the Brexit situation. If there was ever any doubt that Thunder would come up trumps again are immediately blown away as soon as the first song, Last One Out Turn Off The Lights, comes blasting out of your speakers letting you know the world is rocking again. All The Right Noises is Thunder’s Thirteenth studio album. Upon release went into the upper reaches of the charts in thirty seven different countries. Since forming from the ashes of their previous band Terraplane, Thunder have become an institution in rock music.
I hate to say this but I’d be happy being a few years younger!
Whilst playing live the crowd always call for Harry to come out from behind his kit to get out front to have a word or two with his adoring fans. The tracks on the album roll out like all good albums as if they had been placed in order for a live set. Smack bang in the middle is a truly phenomenal power ballad called I’ll Be The One, which is destined to knock out the previous Thunder ballads and become a fan favorite. With all the bases covered, there is never any necessity for Thunder to bring in session players. Only some beautiful female backing singers are used on the songs to enhance the sound. I hate to say this but I’d be happy being a few years younger! You’re Gonna Be My Girl has got a great party lyric all slapped around a riff right out of Rod Stewart’s Hot Legs. Young Man’s lyrics become a bit confusing as the verses concentrate on being happy with the age we are at.
It’s a masterpiece of its kind. The band themselves describe this very fine collection of music as “Observations of life, seen through the prism of Time.” You have to be pretty out there in the first place to understand that anyway. Recorded under lockdown conditions, which at least allowed these Krazy Katz (sic) to concentrate on matters in hand. Time is a concept album scratching at the surface of, well, Time really. The album is presently going like a rocket up the British charts and hopefully will bring them the recognition they deserve and break them out into the mainstream. Hawklords have always been a spinoff, younger version of the mothership Hawkwind. Unlike Hawkwind, this band stays remarkably stable in lineup, with friends and musicians making guest appearances rather than disturbing the lineup. This they have done with inspiring passion. This is the Hawklords 10th album in ten years. But with the release of this album, the space rock apprentices, Hawklords have usurped the mothership.
The guitar solo at the end is wack. Fred (Dead Fred) Reeves excels himself driving from the keyboard seat, rocking out on the up-tempo numbers and taking you into the heavens on the more galactic passages. Drummer Dave Pearce really comes into his own, thrashing away on the rockers, adding a deft touch on the drifting space riffs. “Lighthouse at the Edge of the World” and “Obscura” are going to blow a few minds when taken out on flights across the galaxy. As the guitar crushes through on opening song, “Speed Of Sound,” to hear Mr. Richards going through the count up of “Mach Speeds” is a pure adrenaline rush. So plenty of rockers, and alternately, almost every other track is very spacey, never quite letting you settle. Even surprising the world on closing piece, “Turn You On” (Dead Fred Hard Dance Remix), a song that would fit in wonderfully well at our beloved leading Pattaya nightclub, Insomnia. Leading the mission is Jerry Richards on wacky guitar and vocals, the Hawklords resident alien.
